Overview:
Small business owners are confident, effective, resourceful, and high functioning. However, the pressure that falls on our shoulders can quickly worsen an addiction or mental health problem. Entrepreneurs are also likely to manage others that struggle with mental health or an addiction. With so much at stake for a small business owner addiction and mental health crisis can create huge problems and can even destroy our business. This training offers insight into risk factors, warning signs, and resources for addiction and mental health problems focused on entrepreneurs unique role and the staff they manage.
Regardless of the size of your business, whether you’re a one-woman shop or employ dozens of people, it’s important to take a proactive approach to a topic that isn’t always obvious in business: mental health and addiction.
According to SAMHSA, 1 in 5 adults will face a mental health condition in any given year. Additionally, nearly 20% of people 12 years and older have used illegal drugs or misused prescriptions within the past year (National Center for Drug Abuse Statistics). Mental health challenges and addiction are common, and they can impact you both professionally and personally.
