Build Fort Wayne, Powered by SEED – Hosted by WEOC at The NIIC

The Build Institute is an eight-week basic business education program for idea-state and early-stage business builders.  As a participant, you will complete a strengths assessment and receive connections suited to you, plus one-on-one facilitator meeting time and introductions to startup support organizations.

Groups of 12-16 participants meet weekly for three hours.  The eight-week program provides a total of 24 education and community building hours for new business builders.

Education, resources, and community building are included in the $175 participant investment fee. Upon successful completion of the Build Institute eight-week program, participants will receive this money back as an investment in their business future.  Your program fee includes:

This business and project planning class is designed for aspiring and early entrepreneurs.  The curriculum is as follows:

Week 1:  Introduction, Personal Budget & Personal Credit

Week 2:  Legal Structures, Licensing & Tax Issues

Week 3:  Start-up Costs, Overhead, Sales Unit & Break-even Point

Week 4:  Sales, Profit Goals & Cash Flow

Week 5:  Target Markets, Market Research & Mission

Week 6:  Research, Competition, Pricing & Goals

Week 7:  Financing Sources & Loan Processes

Week 8:  Presentation of Business Plans

Classes are led by trained facilitators and cover the basics of starting a business – from establishing an entity to financial literacy, market research to cash flow, loan types to cost-benefit analyses, and more.  During the cohort, subject matter experts (such as lawyers, accountants, bankers, and marketing professionals) will be in classes to help with questions and specific topics.
