Why do you enjoy working at The NIIC?

The building and décor are very cool–makes me feel edgy, but it’s my co-workers that make my job enjoyable. Everyone is very upbeat and fun to be around. As all non-profits, there is a lot of work to go around, yet each of them finds many opportunities to laugh and brainstorm and genuinely engage with one another. They each truly care about the organization’s mission and doing their absolute best. They say passion drives you, and passion and good hearts really make this team amazing.

What do you do in your spare time?

As a working mom of elementary students, my free time is family time. There is NOTHING I look forward to more than coming home and hanging with my kids and husband. OK, maybe I look forward to traveling with them more than the every day, but it’s the little things like playing school, taking the dog for walks, listening to their little voices go on and on about non-sense that makes me happy.  And we all truly love to be outside.

What do you like to do in the community?

I love to volunteer.  Often times, if you see me at events, I will be working rather than attending. I truly enjoy serving on boards and committees. It offers a way to work more intimately with community members you typically would not work with. My family attends many festivals, and we take advantage of great hikes, kayaking, and biking in the area.
