Deb Boyd is the Controller at The NIIC and joined the organization in April 2019. She started by helping with a project and has continued her work here since then.
She earned a degree in accounting from IPFW and credits her experience working for Ernst and Young as some of the best training available. She also earned an MBA from Taylor University.
Before joining The NIIC, Deb worked in various finance roles, from audit to CFO and in public accounting, healthcare, manufacturing, publishing, and non-profit environments.
Deb is a member of Financial Executives International (FEI). She is also Korn Ferry Leadership Architect Certified. One of the most significant investments businesses make is staffing, and the assessments used by Korn Ferry are useful tools for strategic planning aligned with talent strategy. She attends The Indiana CPA Society Non-Profit Conferences and courses through the American Institue of CPAs.
Why do you enjoy working at The NIIC?
The team at the NIIC is an inspiring group, a pleasure to work with. It’s an energetic environment, always something new to look forward to.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
In her spare time, Deb loves to travel and looks forward to a trip abroad. She has a passion for learning that drives her travel interest—whether it’s cooking or a new hobby, travel brings a lot of what she’s reading to life. Last year, she decided to take an interest up a notch and became certified as a bourbon steward. She believes there’s a lot to say about culture through the foods we enjoy. And she loves music—all of it. She enjoys the drum circle at Sweetwater.
How are you involved in the community?
I enjoy Fort Wayne’s trail system—whether on foot or by bike. I also enjoy the range of arts available in town—from the art museum and theatres.
