FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

July 8, 2020, Fort Wayne, Ind. — Fort Wayne-based Evotek Recruiting is set for expansion two years after they placed their first recruit. They credit their success to a solid business model and to “doing the right things in the right way.”

After growing their company at the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center (The NIIC) since 2017, co-founders Ed San Inocencio and Dave Shuherk plan to relocate Evotek to new headquarters in a larger location. Original plans—before COVID-19 pandemic hit—were to move in March. Instead, they have been operating their business remotely.

Like most small businesses, the pandemic has forced them to modify plans to accommodate the changing business environment. “We will sign a lease for new office space with a move-in date around August 1, 2020. This is the next stage of growth for Evotek, and we expect great things to come. We’re excited for this new chapter and appreciate everything The NIIC has done for us,” said San Inocencio.

Evotek has become a catalyst for economic expansion in the engineering, middle-management, and skilled-trades sectors throughout the Midwest. Earlier this year, the company signed its first client company in California. What’s the secret to Evotek’s success? Locating talent and injecting it in just the right place at just the right time. The company also creates mutually beneficial employer-employee relationships.

For example, when one Ohio manufacturing company needed to triple the size of its support team, it reached out to Evotek for help. “This plant had received numerous awards for profitability, revenue, and performance,” said Shuherk, “but they just couldn’t find the right talent for the next level of growth.” Within two weeks, however, Evotek was able to fill the need with four outstanding candidates for key positions. “They told us they had never seen anything like it,” said San Inocencio

The partners say positive outcomes are based on their ability to build relationships with clients and candidates alike. “Most recruiting companies aren’t taking the time to understand an organization—their structure, their growth plan, their struggles, their culture, all those things,” said Shuherk. “We really embed ourselves within both the company side and the people side.”

San Inocencio agreed. “It all comes down to asking the right questions. We really paint the full picture to a candidate and get them excited to know the opportunity lines up exactly with where they want to be. The structure and the growth plan are going to get them to where they want to be in their career.”

Evotek’s business model has proven successful for a number of clients in the region, so much so that it now needs an independent brick and mortar space to grow its own staffing and build its brand

The co-founders agreed that The NIIC has been a very good location to incubate their young company. “When we started the business, we made a decision to really take a bet on ourselves,” said San Inocencio. “The first step was knowing what we were going to do. The second step was figuring out where we were going to do it.”

They settled on The NIIC pretty quickly, citing its ability to present their business in the best light possible. The NIIC also provided daily opportunities to engage with other entrepreneurs in the community. “When we looked at all of the amenities and everything that The NIIC offers, it made sense for us to be here,” said San Inocencio.

San Inocencio added that The NIIC’s focus on accelerating businesses aligns perfectly with the company’s own purpose. “The reason we’re in business is to help people and businesses realize their greatest potential,” he said. “That’s what the NIIC does, too.”

“If you’re working a job where your potential is untapped, where you’re overlooked and you’re not really doing what you want to do, we can help. Likewise, how can you grow your company without the right people?” said Shuherk. “Placing a candidate who is the right person at the right time with the right skill set and the right mindset into a company that is excited to bring them in, engage them, train them, and get them to where they want to be — that’s a win-win.”
