Two Years ago, the NIIC was awarded a grant from the US Economic Development Administration (EDA) to create a Connected Health IoT Lab (CHL) in Northeast Indiana. Significant grant partners include

Indiana and Purdue University and Purdue University Fort Wayne, The Connected Health Lab actively engages health and healthcare companies, IoT supplier companies, universities, and other innovative support organizations to learn about the latest connected/digital health issues and technologies and collaborates and experiments with innovative ideas and technologies. The Connected Health Lab further provides ongoing intensive business coaching and facilitate the sourcing of connections to capital to promising projects from the lab. The goal is to connect the dots to improve patient experience, and deal with the problems and pains experienced in today’s health industry, and in the process create more jobs across the region. To advance the goals of the Connected Health Lab, NIIC is looking to hire a Digital Health Connections

Leader who will organize and manage a team handling many of the aspects of the Lab. S/he will work closely with the rest of a small NIIC CHL team to accomplish established goals. This includes:

  • Working to engage more members and collaborators, involving helping facilitate outreach events, marketing,
  • Identifying and meeting with potential CHL member organizations with the goal of signing them up as members.
  • Creating and executing CHL initiatives, including education and training (possibilities include webinars given by exert presenters, blogs, courses, ideation sessions, etc).
  • Being the critical enabling link to bring together organizations and companies to collaborate and create solutions and value.
  • Advancing, connecting and promoting the NIIC and its comprehensive portfolio of programs and services.

The selected candidate will work out of the NIIC office in Fort Wayne, IN. This is not a remote position.

This program is statewide so business travel throughout the state of Indiana is required. Expected travel outside the Northeast Indiana area is expected to be 20% or less.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Management

  • Project management of Connected Health Lab activities in shared collaboration with NIIC’s

Management personnel.

Partner Engagement

  • Provide internal and external representation and thought leadership of the CHL, including participation in collaborative activities with official CHL project partners. These include universities, healthcare systems, economic development agencies, private corporations, etc.

Membership Promotion, Acquisition and Support

  • Secure members, develop value-added program offerings, offer and promote NIIC GELS Lab

(Gaming and Simulation Lab) and place-based services

  • Identifying technology partners and solutions of interest for collaborating particularly in

Indiana, but also nationally or globally as needed

  • Promote the CHL via speaking engagements, blogging, social media, and other mechanisms.
  • Ongoing digital health member collaborative guidance and support, either ad hoc, or as part of the project team structure. In general, The NIIC will provide business building support including helping with obtaining financing and will work with member companies to turn ideas and needs into successful companies or projects.

Commercialization Support

  • Providing input during concept development for appropriate technology components of a digital health technical approach
  • Perform assessments and evaluations of digital health technologies and initiatives for the purpose of creating potential CHL areas focus for education, training, project collaboration, etc.
  • Refer to partners and to the NIIC Entrepreneurship Center for business support services and access to capital, networks, space and talent.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3 or more years of experience in providing digital-related support for public health and/or development, managing digital health projects and/or providing strategic direction to digital health projects.
  • Knowledgeable and able to speak and advocate about digital health concepts and technologies with members and partners and prospects.
  • Ability to confidently interact and interface with busy physicians and clinical personnel
  • Experience assessing the landscape for potential digital health interventions and analyzing and recommending appropriate solutions.
  • 2-5 years’ experience in Business Development and Customer Engagement.
  • Excellent writing, communication, speaking to groups, and organizational skills.
  • Applicant cannot be disbarred or prohibited from working with the Federal Government.
